Almost three years have passed since Garderobemekka opened its store on Lade in Trondheim. Many happy Trondheimers have upgraded their homes with new sliding door wardrobes since the busy opening weekend in November 2020. But because back then it was all about getting started quickly, the shop premises have not been the most holistic and thoughtful kind. That will change now.

– The “new” store is in exactly the same location, but has been given a consistent and inspiring design that really showcases our offering. Previously, we only used half of the space, but now we have around 200 m2 of store space with great displays of sliding door fronts, furnishings, walk-in wardrobes and useful accessories. This is Trondheim’s largest wardrobe store,” says sales consultant Hans Petter Ingebrigtsen with satisfaction.

Want to inspire

The wardrobe mecca of Trondheim is still located at Lade, in a rapidly growing neighborhood. Several thousand new housing units are planned here in the next few years, so this is a good location for a wardrobe supplier. Garderobemekka also has a warehouse in the same building, and the production facilities at Tiller are not far away either.

– “These are truly locally sourced goods. The sliding doors are manufactured 15 minutes’ drive from the store, and the fittings come from NorScan in Verdal,” says sales consultant Ingebrigtsen.

The store has not been closed at any time, but has been refurbished from top to bottom, piece by piece. All that’s missing now are the final coats of paint and a selection of sliding door fronts to be displayed. The new store has been designed by Tor Arne Moss Westlund, Regional Manager for Garderobemekka South Norway, who has drawn up a new template for Garderobemekka’s stores. Because Garderobemekka’s range has grown steadily in recent years, many square meters are required to showcase all the possibilities. Having tempting stores that really showcase the range is important for Garderobemekka.

– We want to inspire people to innovate on the home front, and I really think this store will do that,” predicts sales consultant Ingebrigtsen.

News: Garderobemekka delivers to Tromsø!

From August, Garderobemekka has great news for people in Tromsø. Garderobemekka in Trondheim can now deliver tailor-made quality wardrobes to Tromsø as well.

Since Garderobemekka opened its doors in Trondheim in November 2020, more than 5,000 sliding doors have been delivered in the district, and a large number of lucky people in Trondheim have upgraded their homes with stylish sliding wardrobes in a design of their choice and solid quality. Now the turn has come to Tromsø, after the Trondheim store opened for delivery there from August 1, 2023.

– We have already received some inquiries from Tromsø, although we have not announced this opportunity yet. So we think this offer is welcome. The plan is to fill up a car with ordered goods at regular intervals and offer delivery at a nice shipping price,” smiles sales consultant Hans Petter Ingebrigtsen at Garderobemekka in Trondheim.

Glassmester1 is a safe and sound owner with solid finances, which has made it possible to build a good chain with a wide range of quality products in a relatively short time. Garderobemekka now has five, soon to be six, branches nationwide, and distinguishes itself from the competition by producing the sliding doors itself. “We now have one factory in Lørenskog and one in Heimdal, and the basket systems are produced locally in Verdal. Local production is a great advantage for customers, as well as contributing to local jobs.

– Local production saves both time and the environment. It makes the whole process more sustainable, as well as being much faster. And if there are any complaints, we’ll resolve them smoothly because it’s a short process,” says Ingebrigtsen.

The only things that are not produced locally are the raw materials, such as profiles, wheels and soft close door damping. This is supplied by the German quality supplier Raumplus. Otherwise, the entire process from A to Z takes place locally. That’s why Garderobemekka can guarantee delivery within 4-6 weeks – and often faster.

– If fast delivery is very important, you can also pay for this and go to the front of the queue. “We’ve been down to a couple of three days’ production and delivery time,” smiles a satisfied sales consultant Ingebrigtsen.

Welcome emergency help from Garderobemekka and Glassmester 1

For Tove and her family, good advice was expensive when neither the sliding door wardrobe nor the glass panels they had ordered could be delivered before Christmas, and the room divider could not be installed. Service-minded and skilled employees at Garderobemekka and Glassmester 1 saved Christmas.

Tove and Torgeir were almost finished with their brand new house in Vikhammer, north of Trondheim, and they were about to move in. All that remained to be done was to install a sliding door as a room divider between the living rooms, a spacious sliding wardrobe in the hall and the mirrored glass over the kitchen worktop – the finishing touch to the beautiful new kitchen. The couple had a fervent desire to finish by Christmas, and thought it was going to work, when everything suddenly shuffled in turn.

– It started with the fact that the wardrobe we had ordered for the hall could not be delivered in its entirety because the supplier was missing an important part in the warehouse. We received this message just 2-3 weeks before the delivery deadline, and were relatively distraught. That’s when we contacted Garderobemekka for the first time,” says Tove.

Tove and Torgeir were invited into Garderobemekka Trondheim’s store and were promised that if they decided on the same day, it would be possible to deliver on the date the competitor had promised. The couple had done their homework and decided on the design on Garderobemekka’s website, and within fifteen minutes, the drawing and order were completed.

– “A 2-3 week delivery time for a custom-made wardrobe is reasonably fast, but we did everything we could to achieve it,” adds Ingulf Romundstad, department manager at Garderobemekka Trondheim.

Hardened mirror in record time

But the crisis management is not over yet. During the process of creating the sliding door wardrobe, Torgeir and Tove find out that Garderobemekka also has a presence within Glassmester 1. They wanted a large, sooty, toughened mirror above the kitchen worktop in their gorgeous new kitchen. But the curing process makes this a special delivery, and the supplier the couple have contacted can’t promise delivery until mid-January. So they throw the ball over to Ingulf. And they are lucky with the recipient: Glassmester1 in Trondheim has a supplier that produces tempered mirrors and can compete on price with the first bidder. The manufacturer has efficient weeks in November and December, and manages to deliver Tove and Torgeir’s custom-made glass plate several weeks before Christmas. Delighted with the efficiency and customer service at Glassmester 1 and Garderobemekka, they return with a third problem.

– We were installing a room divider produced by German company Ramplus (which is also a supplier to Garderobemekka), a sliding door in sooty glass and aluminum that would separate two living rooms. It turned out to be quite difficult to install, so we contacted Garderobemekka – again. And at short notice, they showed up and helped us get it in place,” says Tove happily.

Fantastic synergy effect

Final chapter: While the room divider is being installed, the fitters overhear the lady of the house discussing a shower enclosure delivery with a supplier on the phone. They quickly realize that an order confirmation is missing and that the order has not been registered. Another crisis has arisen – and Tove once again asks her rescuers in the glass and wardrobe industry for emergency help. Can they also supply glass for the shower zone? Yes, they can.

– We were simply hugely impressed by Glassmester 1 and Garderobemekka. Our new house is now finished with great deliveries from them. These guys are great at service, and I just want to say a big thank you to Garderobemekka and Glassmester 1 for their exceptional care,” says Tove gratefully.

Ingulf Romundstad is also very pleased with the experience. “When everyone else fails to deliver, it’s extra fun to succeed.
